Macbeth vs Society
Macbeth against society is the type of conflict that is happening during this story. He was manipulated into thinking he could rule the world and was unstoppable by the three witches who were very mysterious. Macbeth was able to accomplish this, by murdering people, but that wasn’t the worst of it. He was a king who executed many innocent citizens so that he’d be safe as a leader. This action reflected on him as many people started to hate him and didn’t believe that they would gain anything worthwhile from Macbeth and that his way of ruling wasn’t okay.
What started this conflict was the people fighting against Macbeth for what they believed in. They started to rebel against Macbeth as king and fought for their own rights. Macbeth didn’t appreciate this at all so anyone who disagreed with Macbeth was executed. This is a person to society conflict between Macbeth and the people of Scotland. This conflict between society and Macbeth triggered a war because of all the conflict going, caused by Macbeth.
Macduff and Malcolm had put together an army in England to rebel against Macbeth and for all the bad he’s caused and as an act of revenge. They fought for all the people of Scotland and what was right. Eventually, Macbeth's own army surrendered to Malcolm and Macduff’s. The war was ended when Macduff made the final hit, knocking Macbeth’s head right off. This was how the conflict was resolved. The new king crowned was Malcolm because he was initially in line to be king after his father, King Duncan. This conflict may not have been the ideal solution for Macbeth, but it ended things and everyone was happier.
This conflict also affected Lady Macbeth because her husband was so distracted that she became ill and didn’t get enough medical care so she died. Even Macduff’s family suffered because Macbeth had executed them for standing up against him. Banquo suffered from this conflict as well. He was murdered by Macbeth as an attempt to save his crown. Donalbain was living a nice life along with Malcolm, but once Macbeth had framed them, they fled leaving everything behind in Scotland. Macbeth’s cruelty had an impact on all of Scotland because many people had seen their loved ones killed for standing up to Macbeth and these lives can’t be replaced. This type of conflict is an external conflict because he’s dealing with more than just himself and it has more to do with than just himself or making an important decision. He is also dealing with people physically like during the war and arguments that were held up against him.
This specific conflict reminded me of Donald Trump as he is running for president of United States of America and many people don’t like him for all the terrible things he says so they try to campaign about how he should not be voted. Donald Trump is like Macbeth as in he and Macbeth were both against society and were doing wrong things to make themselves look good.
Class activity.
In our class activity, we a made mini comic page showing what type of conflict it was, how it was started and how it was resolved. Our comic conflict was on Macbeth against Lady Macbeth. It had started because Lady Macbeth had wanted Macbeth to kill King Duncan so that they could rule instead, but Macbeth didn't want to. It was a person to person conflict because they dealing with each and more than person is involved. It was also an external conflict because it was a person to person conflict meaning more than one person were involved. The solution of this conflict was when Macbeth went through with the plan anyways and killed King Duncan.
